kindness is the way to go

Kindness is the way to go

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about kindness and the big question was: How
can we build community through our actions?

First, we explored some collaborative activities and discussed how we could include kindness and build
a
sense of community through our actions at camp. Next, we were organised into groups where we had to
unpack the above question. In our groups we considered how we could spread community and
kindness through our entire school community. We decided that we would offer something
that was free and would make others happy.

We created an action plan and I helped to come up with the final idea. We had some other ideas like Kids
Fun Day, mufti day and bake sale, but we went with baking for the teachers because we wanted to do
something nice for the teachers because nobody else thought of them. We also folded origami and
put it on the side of the plate for the teachers to take home.

For our final product our group did some baking to give to the teachers.

How did our action build a sense of community in the school By making the teachers happy.

I contributed by helping come up with idea of baking for the teachers. I baked some lollycake.

I think the PBL might impact on others by doing something nice for the teachers so they feel happy and
cared for.

What I learned about working with others was, that not everybody agrees to what you want to do, and
sometime you just have to go with other people's’ ideas, even if it you don’t like it.

  1. Good reflection Molly. Sometimes it is not easy to compromise.

  2. Hi Molly,

I'm pretty sure the teachers liked the end product which would make them happy. Even more so since it was a gift.

What would you do next time to improve how you and other work together?

I find it a little bit difficult reading text that is centered. Maybe consider setting out the text so it is lined up on the left hand side like in a book.

I'm looking forward to reading about your next term PBL.
